Playing Without an Account

The full campaign — all 1,305 questions, four difficulty levels, phases and progress — works without creating an account and without an internet connection. Guest gameplay and progress are stored on your device. The weekly Arena is the exception: it needs an account and an internet connection. Account features, support messages and visits to our website involve the online processing described below.

Account and Gameplay Data

An optional account, created with e-mail and password, with Google (on iOS and Android) or with Apple (on iOS), lets you sync progress and use the campaign ranking and the weekly Arena. We process:

  • E-mail, password and account identifiers — our authentication provider, Supabase, processes sign-in credentials and assigns an internal account identifier. A separate public player identifier supports campaign ranking reports and blocking; it does not expose your e-mail or authentication identifier.
  • Google or Apple sign-in — if you choose it, the sign-in is completed by Google or Apple and our authentication provider, Supabase, which receives the sign-in credential and the account details the provider shares with it. The app does not ask Apple for your name or e-mail. We use this only to sign you in: the name, photo and e-mail from Google or Apple are not used to fill your profile and are not published on any ranking, and you choose your display name and avatar in the app. For Apple, we also keep an encrypted Apple authorization token in a private store, used only to revoke the authorization when you delete your account.
  • Display name and avatar — a name you choose and an avatar from the app's fixed selection, shown alongside your score on the campaign ranking. No photo upload is used.
  • Progress, answers and scores — phases, question identifiers, selected answers, results, timestamps, score, league and attempt identifiers, used to calculate scores, synchronize progress and prevent duplicate submissions.
  • Preferred language and community-rules acceptance — English or Portuguese and the record of acceptance required to create a profile.
  • Reports — the reporting account, reported player or question, reason and report date, used for moderation or question corrections. Player reports also record the name shown at the time.

The weekly Arena has its own profile and records, described in the next section. Data sent to our backend uses HTTPS encryption in transit. The app does not request location permission or access to contacts or the photo library, and has no advertising identifiers or app analytics SDKs. Authentication and hosting providers process technical request and security information, such as IP addresses and browser or app request metadata, needed to operate and protect the service. Signed-in players can download a copy of their data from Settings (Download my data). It includes the Arena data described below, except internal anti-abuse data and technical fields.

Weekly Arena

The weekly Arena is an optional online mode, separate from the campaign. It needs an account, an internet connection and an Arena profile, which you create after agreeing that your nickname, avatar and score may appear on the Arena leaderboard. Our server chooses each run's questions, corrects the answers and enforces a 20-second limit per question. Each season runs from Monday 00:00 UTC to the next Monday 00:00 UTC. For the Arena we process:

  • Arena profile — a nickname you choose (3 to 20 characters, checked against a list of inappropriate terms), a short code our server adds to it (for example Ana#7K2), an avatar from the app's fixed selection, the date you agreed to publication, and a separate public identifier used for reports and blocks. The public identifier does not expose your e-mail or authentication identifier. The app does not publish a name or photo from a sign-in provider.
  • Runs and answers — for each run, the season, the start, last-activity and end times recorded by our server, the questions served and when, the alternative you chose, whether it was correct, points, lives left, and whether the run counts toward the leaderboard.
  • Reports — a report about a player: the player's public identifier, the nickname shown at the time and one of four reasons (offensive nickname, impersonation, suspected cheating, other), with no free text. A report about a question: the question, a reason from a fixed list, and an optional comment of up to 300 characters that you write. Please do not put personal information in the comment.
  • Blocks — the players you block in the Arena, stored on our servers and tied to your account.
  • Technical and anti-abuse records — request identifiers and saved responses that stop the same action from being counted twice (removed after 35 days); counters that limit how often an action can be repeated (kept for about a week); and anti-abuse signals, such as an answer that does not match a question the server issued, stored with the run, a severity level and the time (removed after 30 days and never shown in the app). These Arena records do not store your IP address or a device identifier, and the app does not currently use device attestation (App Attest or Play Integrity).
  • Moderation records — our decision on each report (under review, upheld or not upheld), any suspension or reactivation, the date, our note and who decided.

On your device, the app keeps a marker that you read the Arena rules and, only until our server confirms it, a temporary record of an Arena action in progress (such as an answer or a report, including any comment you typed), so that a retry does not repeat it.

Public Ranking, Reports and Blocking

If you create an account, your chosen display name and avatar may appear on the campaign ranking alongside your score, visible to other signed-in players. GospelQuiz filters display names against a list of inappropriate terms before they can be published. If you see a name or behavior on the campaign ranking that you find offensive or abusive, you can report it from inside the app, and you can also block that player locally, on your device, so their name no longer appears to you.

Every report on a player is reviewed by our team, currently Felipe Andrade, with a commitment to respond within 48 hours. Campaign reports are tied to the account's internal identifier, not to the display name alone, since a name can be changed — this lets us act on the correct account even if the name shown at the time of the report is later changed.

On the weekly Arena leaderboard, other signed-in players can see your nickname with its short code, your avatar, your best score of the week and your rank. Your e-mail address and internal account identifier are not shown. The leaderboard shows only the current season. From it you can report or block a player. An Arena block is stored on our servers, tied to your account, so it follows you to other devices; it hides that player from your leaderboard, and you can undo it. This is different from the campaign block above, which stays on your device.

Arena player reports are tied to the player's public identifier, not to the nickname alone, and we also record the nickname shown at the time. Reports about questions are used to correct the question. After a review we may suspend a player: a suspended player no longer appears on the leaderboard and cannot play the Arena, and the app does not state the reason. We may also hold a run out of the leaderboard while it is checked. If you think a decision was wrong, write to [email protected]; we can review the case and lift a suspension.

Support and This Website

If you contact support, we receive your e-mail address and the information you choose to send, such as a description of a problem or a screenshot. These messages are used to answer your request, including when you have no game account. Do not send passwords or access codes. These pages store your language preference locally in your browser; the hosting provider processes requests and security logs to deliver and protect them.

Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing. GospelQuiz has no advertising SDKs, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics.

Account Deletion and Retention

Profile and synced gameplay data are kept while your account is active. You can request permanent deletion in the app by tapping your player name on the home screen and choosing Delete account. Once completed, deletion removes your sign-in account, ranking entry and linked gameplay data. Your profile is removed except for the limited moderation record described below. The app also resets the current local progress. It may need to retry if the connection or local cleanup fails. If you signed in with Apple, we first revoke the Apple authorization and then delete the account; if the revocation cannot be confirmed, the deletion is not completed and can be retried.

If a report against you is pending when you delete your account, we keep the report and a limited player record so the safety review can continue. This includes the player reference, the name recorded in the report, its reason and date; your profile name and avatar are replaced with neutral values, and its link to the sign-in account is removed. These records do not keep your login active or restore your ranking and progress. Question reports may also remain for editorial correction with the account link removed.

Arena data is handled the same way. Deleting your account removes your Arena profile, runs and answers, the blocks you set, the player reports you made, and the technical and anti-abuse records tied to your account. If a player report against you is still open or under review when you delete your account, we keep a limited record so the review can continue: the report, with the nickname shown at the time, its reason and date, and the player's public identifier. Your nickname and avatar are replaced with neutral values, your agreement to publication is cleared, and the link to your account is removed; blocks other players set on that identifier are removed, and you do not reappear on the leaderboard. Without an open report, your Arena profile and the reports about you are removed. Reports you made about Arena questions stay, with the link to your account removed, so the question can still be corrected; so does any comment you wrote in them. The log of our moderation decisions is kept without a link to your account. We do not currently apply an automatic deletion date to these retained records.

Limited records of a deletion request are retained to confirm its outcome and handle interruptions. Records linked to the former account become eligible for cleanup 30 days after a completed or cancelled operation; a confirmation record without the account identifier may remain afterward. Support correspondence is separate from the game account; contact us to request its deletion. See our Account Deletion page for instructions and an alternative if you cannot access the app.
